Take a Walk on the Wild Side
We were hotter than the Lava in our lamps. Stood on Platform Shoes Brushing our Wella hair while Archie Bunker watched The Jeffersons move on up. Hung out at HoJo's On the way to the Drive-In Petting Rocks in Hot Pants Waving Mood Ringed Peace Signs, Shouting Stop the War. Power to the People. No Wi Fi, Just Hi Fi Battle of the Sexes Drugs and Rock ‘n Roll. Roe v. Wade and Women’s Lib Built in Detroit Muscle Cars rolled to a dead stop in a Gas Line waiting to Stay Alive-Drive 55 as Evel Knievel popped a wheelie and sailed by. We were Out to Lunch With a Far-Out, Jive Talkin’ Burn Out who caught our Drift And Kept on Trucking. As he was Streaking along He yelled out, “Mellow Out, You Out of Sight, Dy-no-mite, Scooby Doo and Foxy Lady.” Watching the Boob Tube Right On, In the Groove What’s Happening? Can You Dig It? Be There or Be Square 10-4 Good Buddy. An original poem by Karen Dawn Blum 10/29/2009 |
